This projected artwork considers the relationship between words, space, sound, light and darkness. The photographs and installed artworks, poetry and projections are brought together in the unique space of the newly opened Dronfield Hall Barn to create an immersive atmosphere. The work is based on John’s continuing work exploring the use of new digital technologies and relationship to painting, cine and photographic media. The static artworks are based on his exhibition ”The Thickness of Shadows” at the Centre for Fine Art Research, Birmingham.
The installation involves a technique known projection mapping, also known as video mapping and spatial augmented reality, is a projection technology used to turn objects, often irregularly shaped, into a display surface for video projection. In this case the beams of the roof of the barn and 52 tetrahedra made by the artist which were then tracked and mapped with moving images and lighting effects.
