WHY TIME?… SPINNING EARTH

An installation created using Super 8 Cinefilm, projected onto moving sculpture and reflected onto an abstract painting – ‘ … and the moon in her stillness continues to change”.

I wished to explore the possibilities of introducing time and motion into what are considered to be static artworks and how this playfulness could transform the objects.

The film was produced through painting with oils and acrylics onto blank film and looped through the projector using a looping box. The beauty of the movement of the film synthesised the work so that traditional art forms – paint , sculpture and film could be utilised in the installation.
